When I lost my darling little Bella in 2019, I decided to make an urn to keep her ashes in and I keep this in the studio with me so she is always with me.  I understand only too well how absolutely heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved pet.

If you have lost your pet I send my heartfelt condolences to you and hope that by offering these beautiful resting places for your pet, it will be some small help.

About Chow Bella Urns

Chow Bella urns are handmade to order and I'll discuss all details with you thoroughly along the way.

The urns are glazed in a transparent glaze inside and out and can feature a photo of your pet, a pawprint, or just some simple words.

They are not sealed (because you need to be able to get your pet's ashes in) but you are of course welcome to glue the lid down when you have added your pet's ashes.

What's included in the price

When I was beginning to think about letting Bella go, I started to look around for urns and was shocked at the prices, which to me seemed hugely inflated. I feel that it is wrong to take advantage of people when they are at their lowest, and so I try to price my urns so that they are a fair reflection of the work involved, without the price hike.

Every single urn is handmade to order - I don't buy in bisque because I like to make your urn unique, just like your beloved pet was.

The price includes:

- handmaking the urn

- your images/wording on both the back and front if required

- working with your photo/wording and coming up with a design for your urn

- up to 2 rounds of changes to the proof

- ordering transfers and 3 rounds of firing

- a handwritten condolence card

What size do I need?

To determine the size that your pet's remains will need, you will need to know their approximate weight. For example if your dog or cat weighed 8kg, then you would need a small urn.

Our small urns measure approx 15cm high by approx 9cm wide and these will hold the ashes of a standard size cocker spaniel up to the weight of around 13kg.

Medium urns measure approx 18cm high and will hold a dog weighing up to around 20kg.

The large urns measure 20cm high by approx 11cm wide and will hold the ashes of dog such as a labrador, up to the weight of around 37kg.

I can of course cater for all sizes as these are handmade to order, so if you require something smaller, larger, or inbetween, please just drop me an email ( to discuss.  I will need to know the approximate weight of your pet, or, if you do not know this, the breed, as this will help me work out the size needed.

What is the process?

1. If you know what size your pet's remains will need, please place your order, and then send an email to telling me what wording you'd like, any photos or pawprints/nose prints etc, and if you have any specific requirements for the layout (eg photo with name and dates underneath and then paw print on the back).

If you're unsure which size you need, please email me with as much detail as you can about what breed your pet was and I will advise you.

2. Around 7-10 days after you've placed your order and sent me your images etc, I will send you a couple of proofs. If possible I try and send a flat proof and then a mock up of what it will look like on an urn so that it is easier to imagine.  You can ask me for tweaks or changes at this point, and nothing will be finalised until you are completely happy.

3. I will handmake the urn, and whilst it is drying out, I will order the transfers from my printer. These are on a special backing which is applied to the glazed urn, and then fired on, making the images/wording permanent.

4. Your urn is carefully hand wrapped and packed in plenty of packing, and posted to you using a tracked service.

Once you have ordered your urn, please contact me to discuss the details such as wording, photos etc.

Delivery: Please allow 4-5 weeks for dispatch of your handmade bowl.

"Just wanted to say a massive thank you for Adora's urn (that still sounds unreal 😔).

It's just lovely, she is now resting next to our Ewan." - Debbie Ash, May 2021

"The urn is absolutely perfect, I was in floods of tears when I opened it. Thank you so much once again." - Nicola Gerard, July 2021

"Thank you so much for this beautiful urn. It really is so special.  Of course it was hugely emotional opening it and putting in the ashes, but I was expecting that.
Sending you the very warmest wishes and thank you again."  - Susan Lewis, Oct 2021
