Day at the Beach – Hand-Painted Cocker Spaniel Bowl

A story told in two moments — calm and wild, stillness and joy.
On one side, a cocker spaniel sits at the shoreline, watching seagulls flying in the distance (the profile is taken from Mango who often sits like this at the studio door, watching the pigeons). Turn the bowl, and there he is again — running free on the wet sand against the sunset, ears flying, utterly alive.

Day at the Beach is hand-thrown from earthenware clay and painted in the majolica style, where layers of coloured underglazes are brushed directly onto the unfired glaze surface. Every scene takes around two hours to paint, built up slowly in fine, translucent washes that capture the shifting light of sky and sea.

No two bowls are ever the same — each one a one-off work of art celebrating the joy and companionship of dogs, and the simple beauty of nature.
